Lazy Sunday @ Dear Chandigarh

Chandigarh derives its name from the temple of "Chandi Mandir" located in the vicinity of the site selected for the city. The City representative of modern architecture and town planning, created by French architect Le Corbusier came into existence on November 1 1966.

It’s located on the foot hills of Shivalik  range making it one of the most beautiful cities in the world.Chandigarh has since developed into a multicultural city attracting top Bureaucrats,Army Veterans ,Educationists as its early inhabitants.

Now it’s a bustling city with a population of approximately 10.54 lacs & being an education hub it has a lot of youngsters who not only make it a lively city but also attracts a lot of service sector professionals.

We often find people coming to Chandigarh complaining of not able to spend  quality time on a Sunday.

Post breakfast one should peddle his bike straight to Zakir Rose Garden spread over 30 acres & which boasts of more than 825 varieties of roses is not only beautiful but also is a peaceful sojourn from normal day chores. One should in his bag carry books ,a mat some water though there are many beautiful places but i suggest you to find a place  near a quaint  milk bar and indulge yourself into a fantasy world of reading ,you should also try chilled elaichi milk from the milk bar nearby while enjoying your read , one will often hear cuckoo birds chirping in the trees may get distracted by the fragrant breeze and can hear a faint waterfall from the fountain nearby, my experience says that time flies in this activity and after a brief saunter in the garden one should ride his bike for the luncheon.

Garg Chat

I will suggest you to visit sector 23 and make your bike stop at Garg Chat Bhandar , it’s the oldest chat shop of the town and currently being run by the 3rd generation of the family, you should start by savouring the delicious Golgappas followed by Papri chat & still if you have some space left in your stomach have some of the delicious Paneer tikkas served by them & believe me you will have a most mouth watering culinary experience.
